What are these tiny little flies invading my kitchen?

Hi
Recently there have been loads of tiny little white-ish flies floating around my kitchen - they are similar to greenflies, all light and fairy-like.
I keep windows open throughout my house but for some reason they only appear in the kitchen - but there are loads of them.
I cannot find any spillages etc... but unsure if these flies would be attracted to stuff like that - there are no regular house flies anywhere which is what you would expect to get if you had something that had gone off somewhere.

My partner wants to fumigate but until we find out what they are and why they are there i'm hesitant to, it might be just one of thouse things for this time of year - we have only been in our house a couple of months so don't know if these are common in our area, and they have only appeared in the last week.

Any ideas?

What is a VPN?

VPN is (Virtual Private Network) were first used by companies to enable their employees to securely access internal systems such as email remotely (e.g. from home or while on business trips). Today they are increasingly being used for personal use by individuals to protect their privacy while online in public places (e.g. when using the wi-fi connection in a cafe) or in a country where the internet is censored / blocked (e.g. China, Saudi Arabia…).
